The department of Oriya is running since the opening of the College in 1981. The department imparts teaching both in Pass and Honours courses to +3 students.

                The success rate during the last five years is satisfactory and the drop out rate is minimal.

                The department depends upon the Central Library and the Seminar Library to provide learning resources to the students. The number of books in the Central Library on the subject is 3426 and Seminar Library is 47. The department organizes seminars regularly. Dr T.P.Ratha has published One Poetry book, ‘Girispada’, published by Swati Prakashan, Rourkela in 2000.

               Beside University examinations the department conducts unit test, pre test and test examinations. Dr. T.P.Ratha was awarded Ph.D in 12.9.88 by Sambalpur University.
