The Department of Political Science was opened in the year 1981 with the establishment of the College. The Department imparts teaching in both pass and Hons courses at the undergraduate level.

Two hundred and forty students are reading Political Science either as Pass or Honours or Elective subject; including 48 Honours students of which; 31 are girls and 17 are boys. Most of the students of the department are from rural area. 03. The students are doing well in the University Examinations and there has been very few drop outs of the students during the past five years in Honours course.

                   There is a separate Seminar Library in the department having 50 number of Books to cater to the needs of Honours students besides the Central Library of the college where 889 number of Books are available in Political Science. During the last five years around 300 books have been added to the Central Library in Political Science and also a number of maps have been procured for the department. A number of Seminars are being organized by the department every year in which members of the staff as well as students participate actively. Very often we invite Resource persons from other Colleges to these seminars. One teacher of the department Sri J.K.Pradhan is in-charge of the Boys Unit of the NSS of the College. Students of the department are also taking an active role in the NSS activities of the College by attending Normal as well as Special camps from time to time.

                         The teachers of the department are conducting monthly tests of the Honours students for evaluating their academic progress besides the Pre-test and Test examinations conducted by the college for all students..
