The subject is taught as
a pass subject in the
institution since its
inception in 1981. At
present there are 97
students both in Pass
and Elective classes and
all of them come from
this locality. The girl
students outnumber the
boys in our department.
. The
success rate of the
students in the
department in the last
five years is
satisfactory and dropout
rate is minimal. As only
Pass course is taught,
no separate library /
computers are available
in the department. 389
numbers of books are
kept in the central
library, 70 numbers of
latest editions have
been purchased for the
students during the last
two years.
Dr.
Bholeswar Sahu, Lecturer
in Economics of the
department has obtained
Ph.D degree in 2001 from
Utkal University on
“Development and
Displacement: A Case
Study of Rengali Dam
Porject in Orissa”.
Dr. Sahu
has also attended two
national seminars during
2001 and 2005 organised
by ISED, Bhubaneswar and
P.G. Department of
Economics, Sambalpur
University respectively.
The students of the
department participate
in the activities of the
NSS. Further assessment
of students is made by
taking tutorial,
proctorial classes and
by holding Quarterly,
Half yearly and Annual
Examinations.
During
2002-03 the department
had the privilege to
organize a state level
seminar on “Growth of
Capital in Hirakud
Command Area: Problems
and Possibilities”,
sponsored by U.G.C. The
department is planning
to open Honours courses
and planning forum in
the department in the
next five years. |
