Courses and Subjects

 

(A)  +2 Streams :-

                     According to the new course structure there shall be one examination to be conducted by the College at the end of 1st year basing on the curriculum meant for that year and one examination at the end of 2nd year to be conducted by the Council basing on the curriculum meant for that year alone. Pass certificates will be awarded to successful candidates basing on the performance of the Council examination to be held at the end of 2nd year only. The examination at the end of 1st year shall be for 700 marks (including 100 marks for Environmental Education and the examination at the end of 2nd year shall be for 600 marks. Marks secured in the examination to be conducted at the end of 1st year shall be considered for promotion of students to the 2nd year class.

           Besides English and M.I.L., Environmental Education shall be a compulsory subject. But Environmental Education will be taught only in the 1st year and examination for Environmental Education will be conducted by the College at the end of the 1st year. There shall be no extra optional subject. Instead each student has to offer elective subjects.

Environmental Education:- The subject will be assessed at the College level for 100 marks (70 marks for theory and 30 marks for project work) at the end of 1st year of +2 course and the grades (A,B,C or D in order of merit ) are to be awarded by the College and the same shall be recorded in the body of the Pass Certificate given by the Council subsequently. The grade secured in the Environmental Education (EE) shall not affect the result of the candidate.

 

Elective: (For +2 Arts / Science )-

 

A-     Subjects to be offered        : Besides the compulsory subjects like English, MIL and Environmental Education , a student shall offer any four elective subjects from the following.

History, Economics, Political Science, Oriya Home Science

 

+2 Science

 

  1. Physics

2.   Chemistry

 

For 3rd and 4th Elective subjects either Group-A or Group B to be chosen

             A student taking admission into +2 Arts/ +2 Science 1st year classes has to offer any one of the following as his MIL.:-

                   Oriya, Hindi , Bengali, Telugu, Urdu

  However the College provides teaching facilities only in MIL(Oriya).

                 In special circumstances a candidate may be permitted to offer alternative papers in English of a Higher standard in lieu of MIL papers.

(5) Add On Course

Self financing Career oriented Vocational Subjects :-

a.      Certificate course – 1yr

b.       Diploma Course   - 2 yr

c.       Degree course      - 3 yr

In addition to B.Sc course a student can simultaneously undergo the above course opting any one of the following  Career Oriented subject.

i.   Computer Maintenance – Course fee-     Rs. 8000/- per Year

ii. Biotechnology (Horticulture)-Course fee-Rs. 5000/- per Year

iii. T.V & Video Production - Course fee-     Rs. 8000/- per Year

(6)    To enhance the employability of the students, the college has applied for opening permission for the subject “ Hons. in Computer Science” at B.Sc. level and “Communicative English” as a vocational subject  for B.A students. Both are self financing courses.

The course fee for Hons in Computer Science will be Rs 10,000 /- Per Year

(7) Distance Education – Sambalpur University has approved Attabira College, Attabira as a study centre for distance education.

a).D.C.A– One Year Course–   

Course fee :Rs. 5000/-  as prescribed by Sambalpur University

b). P.G.D.C.A – One Year Course – Course fee:  Rs. 16000/- by the  University.                                                                           

c). B.C.A – Three Year Course –   Course fee:  Rs. 15000 /- per annum as prescribed by Sambalpur  University
